"Potentially Infectious Materials", which are defined to include -- Body fluids (as defined herein) -- Unfixed human tissue or organs -- Cultures or stocks of any virus, bacterium or other organism that is HIV or HBV or contains HIV or HBV -- Tissues, organs, body parts and body fluids from experimental animals infected with HIV or HBV -- Teeth in dentistry. Items that are freely dripping liquid or semi-liquid blood or "potentially infectious materials" or could readily release them if compressed, and items containing dried blood or "potentially infectious materials" that could release flakes or such waste if compressed or otherwise handled. Sharps including hypodermic and suture needles, syringes with or without needles, tubing with needles, scalpel blades and broken glass or plastic items that have been contaminated with blood or "potentially infectious materials". |
What is Regulated Medical Waste? |
Certain Specified Body Fluids as follows: Blood and blood components -- Dialysate -- Amniotic, Cerebrospinal, Synovial, Plural, Peritoneal and Pericardial fluids -- Semen and Vaginal secretions -- Saliva in dental procedures. |
Pathological or microbiological wastes that include blood or "potentially infectious materials". |
